Talk about a surprising game! Our Utes were 9 point underdogs to the #24 Georgia Tech team, but we blew them out of the stadium 38-10.
Bret Ratliff piloted the offense to 550 yards and 38 points against what was supposed to be a “great” GT defense. That 38 point score should have easily been 3 touchdowns better but we made some bad plays and play calling in the red zone.
Travis LaTendresse burned the GT defense with 4 TD’s mostly on post patterns. Quinton Ganther rushed for a solid 120 yards with a nice break away TD run of 41 yards.
Defensively the Utes were great, shutting down GT completely in the 2nd half.
I question some of the play calling. The times we should have scored but turned the ball over we were running some strange trick plays, rather than just playing straight ahead football.
Overall it was a stellar performance on both sides of the ball. Well done.
2006 will certainly be an interesting year as Ratliff has proven himself to be a great QB and a winner. It will be fun to watch.

Utah defeated High Point 80-44 Wednesday night. Unfortunately I was not able to attend because I’m suffering from what I believe to be a broken rib and it’s painful to even move.
This has not been a good year for basketball and the conference season has yet to start. I’m not sure about this team winning many games at all during the conference season.
It’s really a downer seeing this poor level of baskeball from my Utes. I haven’t seen this low level of play in close to 20 years.

I hate weddings. Don’t invite me to yours. I hate dressing up. I don’t own a tie or a suit.
I got invited to a wedding of a good friend and I pretty much had to go. Problem: the wedding was at the same time as the Arizona basketball game.
Since we got our asses kicked by 30 points, this one time I didn’t mind going to the wedding and missing the game…

I got back from the bathroom and someone was sitting in my seat next to my boy. I had to kick him out…

Utes Fall On The Road To Colorado, 76-52
Man was this game ugly. The Utes started out the game with a 10-3 lead. That was the best it would look all day. After that Colorado went on a 30-6 run. Yes, 30-6.
By halftime the Utes had a grand total of….get this…16 points.
The Utes didn’t make much of a run in the 2nd half either. They got to within I think 12 but that was it.
About the only thing worse than the game itself was the play calling by Steve Brown and Pace Manion. Now I like Pace. I’ve met him before and he’s pretty cool. And I was lucky enough to watch him play in person through his carreer at Utah. But he’s about as dry and drab sounding a color announcer I’ve ever heard.
